The Friends of Winthrop

The FOW is a volunteer organization dedicated to the successful education of our children.  We provide meaningful programs and events for parents, students and teachers, and engage in special projects that will support the school mission and community spirit. We work to connect and communicate with the school community by providing school and family directories, newsletters, and having a FOW representative (room parent) for each classroom. The FOW is also dedicated to fundraising to support the school staff and enhance the educational experiences of our students.

What does it mean to be a FOW member?

As a parent of a child at Winthrop School, you are automatically a member of the FOW.  Attend a meeting or volunteer for an event. Being a part of the FOW is your opportunity to meet other parents, teachers and the principal. Through the FOW, you will stay informed and involved in your child’s education and can participate in discussions shaping your child’s experience at school.

Where do I get information?

We use a variety of methods to communicate including: the Winthrop School Newsletter, the FOW website (www.friendsofwinthrop.com), the FOW Facebook page, as well as notes in your child’s backpack.  Agendas for meetings are published in advance on our website, along with FOW chair names and contact information. Minutes from the meetings are also posted.
